The US government has expressed hope that the constitutional review will include institutional reforms in the country.
The US Ambassador Michael Raneneberger, said his government was optimistic Kenya would stay on the right track to recovery following the post-election crisis.
He called on Kenyans to support President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga on the issue of amnesty for those accused of post-election violence.
Ranneberger was speaking at the St Michael Catholic Church in Nairobi’s Otiende Estate, when he led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of St Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School.
The US government donated Sh36 million to the project, which will benefit of HIV/Aids orphans from Kibera slums.
Meanwhile, Ford-Kenya will hold a two-day retreat for its Parliamentary Group and National Executive Committee in Nairobi to discuss the constitutional review.
Party chairman Musikari Kombo said the meeting would be at Kenya College of Communication Technology, Mbagathi, today and tomorrow.
Elsewhere, the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) plans to mobilise Kenyans to camp outside Parliament Building to press MPs to speed up constitutional review.
Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli said his organisation was consulting the civil society, professional bodies and workers over the plans.
