Yvonne Chaka Chaka rocks Kakamega
By Stephen Makabila
Eshisiru village in Kakamega came live on Monay when Deputy PM Musalia Mudavadi and South-African music icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka came calling.
Villagers flocked the Eshisiru DO’s camp from morning as word went round that the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador was around.
Chaka Chaka was in Eshisiru to witness the launch of a one-week health intervention campaign targeting Malaria, HIV and diarrhoea. She urged Kenyans to overcome stigma and get tested for HIV/Aids.
Vestergaard Frandsen and CHF International sponsor the campaign, dubbed Integrated Prevention Demonstration (IDP), in conjunction with the Kenya Government.
The Chief Executive of Vestergaard Frandsen Mikkel Frandsen was also present.
Chaka Chaka electrified the villagers with her music hits and invited Mudavadi for a spin.
“I make Mandela and George Bush dance, let me make your Deputy Prime Minister dance as well,” said Chaka Chaka.
