Grammy and Oscar awards winner Jennifer Kate Hudson has given birth to a son with Kenyan roots.
David Daniel Otunga Jr was born last Monday and is Hudson and fiancé David Otunga’s first child.
Otunga is famous for two things — his engagement to Jennifer Hudson and a role in the I Love New York show. Well, he is also the son of a Kenyan father and an American mother.
Otunga, whose father Moses died in 2003, has two sisters in America. Another sister and brother live in Kenya.
He graduated from Harvard with a law degree and also has a Bachelor’s degree in cognitive science from Columbia University.
Hudson grew up in Chicago where she kicked off her career singing gospel songs in a Baptist church.
She auditioned for the talent show American Idol in 2003 and was selected to compete in the show’s third season the following year. Her soulful singing brought early success and a devoted fan base, but she was eliminated after making it to the top seven.
Hudson bounced back by winning the role of Effie in the 2006 film Dreamgirls and won an Academy Award.
And last February, she won a Grammy for Best R & B Album for her self-titled album. The award was presented by Whitney Houston.
